Pet Medicine

Pet Medicine
Choosing Pet Medicine
As an owner of 4 dogs, a cat, 50 chickens and two horses, I have learned the importance of good pet medicine.  I really appreciate cheap pet medicine, but more important than the price is the effectiveness it will have for its intended purposes. On the other hand we have found that brand name pet medicine is not necessarily the best option either   When you buy brand name pet medicine you may be paying for packaging and reputation at a premium and get no more than a less expensive version and unfortunately occasionally you may get something less effective.
One of the most effective ways of picking pet medicine is to check with other pet owners of your particular breed of dog, cat, bird, fish, reptile, or rodent.  If you have close friends or people you know well it is the best option.  The second thing you can do is to check on line but remember there maybe websites talking about the great benefits of a specific brand of pet medicine and they are actually a partner with the manufacturer.  So choose your evaluation of pet medication carefully.  The same thing may be true about your veterinarian or pet health care giver, they may have an incentive to sell you a particular product because of the relationship with a salesman or even a financial kickback.
Administering Pet Medicine
When it comes time to give your pet medicine make sure that you know the weight of your cat or dog and the age of your pet whether it is a bird, reptile, rodent or fish.   If you have the appropriate information you should be able to use the directions on the packaging to choose the right dose of medication and also the frequency of dosage to be effective and not cause unnecessary side effects that may come from the pet medication.
If you have concerns or questions about the pet medicine you should contact the manufacturer or if you have good veterinarian you can contact them to insure you are doing the thing that is best for your pet and avoid any misuse of pet medication.
